Shockwave therapy
With pressure waves we stimulate the recovery of tendon tissue and muscle-tendon junctions. We mainly use shockwave for long-standing tendon complaints that don't respond well to rest or exercise therapy alone.

When
What does it help with?
- Tennis or golfer's elbow
- Achilles tendon complaints
- Heel spur and plantar fasciitis
- Patellar tendon complaints (jumper's knee)
- Calcific shoulder and persistent shoulder tendon complaints
- Tendon complaints around the hip (trochanter)
How we work
What to expect
Examination
We determine whether shockwave suits your complaint, using ultrasound where needed.
Treatment
Using an applicator, we deliver pressure waves to the painful area. A session takes a few minutes.
Series
Usually 3 to 5 treatments follow, about a week apart.
Build-up
At the same time, we build up the load capacity of the tendon with targeted exercises.
Questions
Good to know
Does it hurt?
It can be tender on the painful spot. We adjust the intensity to what you can tolerate.
Can I exercise afterwards?
Yes, usually. Do avoid heavy or explosive loading of the treated area for the first 48 hours.
Does it cost extra?
No. Shockwave is part of a regular or extended session, without a surcharge.
Is it reimbursed?
If you have supplementary insurance, the treatment is reimbursed, depending on your package. For certain chronic conditions, the basic insurance pays from the 21st treatment, with a referral. Read more under rates.
